      Smart Tariffs: Octopus Intelligent Go

      How to Enrol with Octopus Intelligent Go

      To enrol your Hypervolt with Intelligent octopus Go, you'll need to make sure you're at home and the Hypervolt is plugged into your EV. 

      1. Open the Octopus Energy app.
      2. Go to the 'Devices' and press 'Add device'.
      3. In 'Pick the device you'd like to add' select 'Electric Vehicle',
      4. In the 'Are you home?' screen, select 'I'm Plugged in'.
      5. Select your EV make and model
      6. Select 'Hypervolt' from the dropdown menu.
      7. If you are happy with the T&Cs, tap 'Agree and connect'
      8. In the pop-up screen, sign in to your Hypervolt account.
      9. Once logged in, you will be asked to select the charger that you'd like to link and then tap 'Continue'.

      How It Works

      Step 1: Set Your Charging Schedule

      • In the Octopus app, set the “Charge by Time” .

      • Set the time by which you want your vehicle to be fully charged (For example: If you need your car ready by 7:00 AM, set this as your target time).

      Step 2:  Plug In Your Vehicle

      • Once your target time is set, connect your Hypervolt charger to your vehicle.

      • The Hypervolt will communicate with Octopus, signalling that the vehicle is ready for charging.

      Octopus calculates a smart charging schedule using off-peak rates and sends it to your Hypervolt, no manual input needed.

       Charging Modes

      Your Hypervolt charger adjusts its charging modes to align with the scheduled sessions.

      • During low-cost charging periods, your Hypervolt will automatically switch to Boost mode.

      • Eco, Super Eco, and Battery Safe are unavailable during these open charging windows.

      • If you have solar panels producing surplus energy during these sessions, the charger will prioritise using this energy to power your vehicle.

      Outside of scheduled charging sessions:

      • Hypervolt will default to Super Eco or Battery Safe, based on your Home Battery Wizard settings.

      Bump Charge

      Found in the Octopus app, Bump Charge allows you to instantly start charging, bypassing the smart charging schedule.Bump Charge temporarily disables smart charging. Your Hypervolt will be automatically set to Boost, delivering the highest available power. 

      Charging during a Bump Charge is billed at your standard tariff rate, not the discounted Intelligent Octopus Go rate.

      Offline Functionality

      Schedules are stored in the Hypervolt’s local memory, meaning that once a schedule has been generated, the charger will continue to charge on schedule even if it goes offline.

      New schedules will not be generated until the unit is back online!
