My Hypervolt is Offline!

This article explains why your Hypervolt may fall offline, what it means, common causes, and steps to restore the connection.

You’ll see a network error in the app if your Hypervolt is offline or has an unstable internet connection. This usually happens when WiFi signal strength drops below the recommended threshold of -60dBm. If the weak signal persists, the charger may fail to reconnect. When offline, the charger’s outer LEDs will pulse white as a visual alert.

To improve stability, consider placing a WiFi booster between your router and the Hypervolt. If you’re still concerned, please contact support for further assistance.

Power Cycle

If the Hypervolt has fallen offline due to a temporary dip in signal strength, there are a few ways you can restore the WiFi connection. A straightforward method that is often very effective is to reboot the charger:

  1. Locate the isolator.
  2. Isolate the circuit  bringing the isolator switch down.
  3. Wait 5 seconds, and then return the switch to the original upward position.

The isolator is located either on the property main fuse board (main consumer unit) or on a separate dedicated fuse board.   Trace the power cables lead back from the Hypervolt unit to the source. The switch will usually be labeled ‘EV’ or ‘Hypervolt’.

Connect with the Hypervolt Hotspot

If the initial power cycle fails, try connecting to the WiFi using the Hypervolt Hotspot.

Keep in mind, when you are completing these steps, you will have a 5 minute window. If you've re-started your Hypervolt and the 5 minute window has passed, you may have to restart it again.

  1. Turn mobile data OFF.
  2. Repeat the power cycle steps
  3. Stand next to the Hypervolt. Once you have done this - open your phone's WiFi Settings and find the ‘hypervolt’ network
  4. Connect to the hypervolt hotspot.
  5. Wait for it to be connected; it might say ‘connected without internet’ but that’s fine. (If it asks for a password it's the adoption token).
  6. Go to your phone’s web browser and go to ‘hypervolt.energy’. This takes you to the WiFi setup page. If this doesn’t load, please check you are still connected to the Hypervolt network.
  7. Select your WiFi network from the list and insert the Wifi password.
  8. The charger’s LED lights should turn solid blue if you have successfully connected.

The Adoption Token and serial number are on a small white label at the base of the unit. You may need to unwind the charging lead to see the sticker.

Having trouble connecting with the Hypervolt Hotspot? Here are a few tips that can help.

  • If the web page shows the charger is connected but the App still shows offline, the wifi password might be incorrect.
  • If the hypervolt.energy page fails to load, make sure your phone's auto-reconnect and mobile data is turned off.
  • If the Hypervolt Hotspot is not available, note that there is a 5 minute grace period to establish the internet connection after each reboot. After five minutes, you will need to reboot the charger again to re-enable the Hypervolt Hotspot

Offline Functionality

If your Hypervolt goes offline, the app’s home screen will show its status as offline, and the outer ring LEDs will slowly pulse white as a visual indicator.

While offline, the charger cannot communicate with our servers, so any changes made in the app will not be applied. However, the Hypervolt will retain in-memory settings configured before losing connection. For example, if scheduled charging (e.g. 01:00–06:00) or Super Eco mode was active, it will continue to follow those settings. If it was locked, it will stay locked.

If the charger is power-cycled while offline, it will revert to default settings:

  • Charging mode: Boost
  • Activation mode: Plug and Charge
  • Lock status: Unlocked

Note: The charger stores up to 7 days of offline telemetry data and will automatically upload it once reconnected.
