Troubleshooting Network Loss: Common Causes and Solutions

In this article, we will outline methods to help you get your Hypervolt back online.

To determine if a Hypervolt charger is offline, start by checking the App network settings to confirm its status followed by checking the troubleshooter. The Hypervolt LEDs will indicate it is offline by white. You should also check that the mobile device you are using the app on is connected to the internet, the router is online, and the charger is powered on.

Method One: Power Cycle

If the Hypervolt is offline, there are steps you can take to restore the internet connection. A straightforward method that is often very effective is to reboot the charger:

  1. Locate the RCD for your Hypervolt charger.
  2. Turn the switch off by pulling it down
  3. Wait 5 seconds
  4. Turn the switch on by putting it back up

Note: The RCD is located either on the property main fuse board (main consumer unit) or on a separate dedicated fuse board.   Trace the power cables lead back from the Hypervolt unit to the source. The switch will usually be labeled ‘EV’ or ‘Hypervolt’.

Method Two: Connecting via App

If rebooting the Hypervolt alone does not work,  you can try to reestablish the internet connection through the Hypervolt App by following these steps:

  1. Verify that bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device (the app will alert you if not).
  2. Restart your charger by switching off the RCBO/RCD fuse switch. Keep it off for approximately 5 seconds, and then switch it back on.
  3. Walk back to the charger (within 5m of the charger).
  4. Open the Hypervolt app on your device and navigate to the settings menu located on the bottom right of the home screen, then select Charger Settings.
  5. Select the network option and choose your Wi-Fi network. Input the necessary credentials to establish a connection.

Having Trouble with Method Two? Here are a Few Tips!

"The network page shows “connecting to the charger” but doesn’t go to the next page?"

The charger may have stopped advertising its bluetooth signal. If bluetooth is lost, try rebooting the charger one more time.

"The App shows a successful connection but the Network details remain unavailable?"

If the app shows the network name but lacks an IP address or default gateway and the charger remains unreachable, reboot the router and retry method two again.

"I'm on step 5 of method two, but my network is not available?"

This can occur if the WiFi network is set to private. Please check your wi-fi settings. This

Method Three: Connecting via HotSpot

Keep in mind, when you are completing these steps, you will have a 5 minute window. If you've re-started your Hypervolt and the 5 minute window has passed, you may have to restart it again.

Note:The adoption token and serial number are on a small white sticker at the base of the unit. You may need to unwind the charging lead to see the sticker.

  1. Turn mobile data OFF.
  2. Restart the unit at the fuse-board, turn it off for 5 seconds and turn it back on.
  3. Stand next to the Hypervolt. Once you have done this - open your phone's WiFi Settings and find the ‘hypervolt’ network
  4. Connect to the hypervolt hotspot.
  5. Wait for it to be connected; it might say ‘connected without internet’ but that’s fine. (If it asks for a password it's the adoption token).
  6. Go to your phone’s web browser and go to ‘hypervolt.energy’. This takes you to the WiFi setup page. If this doesn’t load try please check you are still connected to the Hypervolt network.
  7. Select your WiFi network from the list and type the password in at the bottom.
  8. The charger’s LED lights should turn solid blue if you have successfully connected.

Having Trouble with Method Three? Here are a Few Tips!

"The web page shows the charger is connected but the App still shows offline?"

If the password used is incorrect, you may encounter this issue. To resolve it, please try method three again and double-check for any typing errors.

"The hypervolt.energy page does not load?"

Ensure the phone's auto-reconnect and mobile data is turned off.

"The Hypervolt Hotspot is not available"

There is a 5 minute grace period to establish the internet connection after each reboot. After five minutes, you will need to reboot the charger again to re-enable the Hypervolt Hotspot
